Skiing with the girls

First off I can't believe how little of snow we have gotten this year, I have never seen anything like it! We have had temperatures in the 40-50's in the middle of January, crazy! Finally a little snow has arrived, along with Danny, Emma and Lydia getting a season pass to Sundance. We made a plan to go Friday night and Tara would hang out in the lodge with Kindra and also watch Koya or Kycee at a time.

Aaron decided to up there with us, which was a HUGE help! there is so much stuff to carry for such a short ride for them. I took Kycee up first for her first time, she was SO stinkin cute. She kept looking at the ski lift and also just before getting on it, she says "mom, look at the swing, are we going on it?" It was so funny. She loved the ride up and at the top, she immediately said "Ok mom, I do it by myself"! Well then. I did have the webbing tied around her waist, but she did great, just stood straight up and would go down. She really enjoyed it. Koya did so much better then our first trip! She was getting the "pizza" down better and did a really good job trying to follow Lydia and started getting some turning down. She only fell once caused by how icy the runs were. We had a great time, 1 run each is about all they can handle and all my legs can handle!

Here is the translation for which I think it means "Dear mom, I am naping cuz I have been doing lots of things, Alaina", she likes to spell names also, how stinkin cute is that?!

Sleep Improving

The girls are sleeping so good right now! Kycee still takes a great nap, although I know she doesn't fall asleep when we lay her down because when you go get her up she will have multiple toys in her bed with her. She has now been going to sleep good at night for about 2 weeks or more and most the time not waking up at night at all. Koya is also sleeping fine at night, other then they are up at 7:00 in the morning....ugh...and that is why they go to bed at 7:30- 8:00.

Kycee has done AMAZING since potty training her. She had a few accidents that first 2, 3 days, then she even started on her own telling us she needed to go "poo" or she would say "my belly is full", which meant that. She has maybe had 3 accidents in the day time since then. I had her initially sleeping in pull ups until we could get the day time thing down and she started on her waking up a few times at night to go pee on her own. She has also woke up dry majority of the nights. I still have her in a pull up because her and Koya share a bed and I don't want it getting her at night. I am just really amazed at how well she picked this up and how quick, because of the initial attempts I had trying to potty train her.

I came home from work one morning and I noticed that kycee had on different PJ bottoms and her other ones that she went to bed with were on her floor in the bedroom, with the underwear which seemed wet. I asked Aaron if she had peed the bed and if he got up and changed her and just left the clothes on the bed and he replied "no, she never woke me up". Her pants were for sure wet and she had peed, but the bed was dry. I can only figure that she got up to go and peed her pants on the way, and just changed on her own and went back to bed. It still amazes me the difference in kids, Koya never would have done that, in fact she still has some accidents, not very often but she will still come in and wake us up, rather then just changing her "night time panties". Kycee is definitely a do it herself girl!

A helmet for Brett

Some of the guys at work came up with a great idea to say thanks to Brett Kay the ER director for the fast action he had and the hustling of Mike Stentzel to UVRMC. Brett was at the hospital when they took Mike in and he rushed him immediately to CT and back and then rode with the medics down to the hospital with RSI kit in hand incase they needed to use it. He definitely sped up the process for Mike in his initial treatment.

They guys got a helmet and had the entire department sign it and then they happened to present it to him on a day that I was working at Timpanogos, so I joined in and got a picture with them all!

Skiing

Took Koya up skiing for the morning on Dec 17th, we only managed 1 run, but I think that was about all both of us could handle. She loved the lift ride up, but the first little bit down the hill was a little scary for her and a few tears. After making her realize that I was holding her, she did much better, but still had her moments on the way down that she would get upset. She did say she would go again with me, so that is a PLUS!

I found Kycee a pair of little skis and boots at Savers for under $9.00!! I figure I have a pass this year I might as well get them both up there, now if we can only get some snow!!

Santa made it to our house before I got home from work Christmas morning!

They LOVED everything, loved the babies, zu-zu pets, pillow pets, clothes, stroller, journal, etc....

A day or 2 before our family party we got around to making the ginger bread houses but the store was out of houses so we got little snoopi dog houses! The girls had a lot of fun.

Our families tradition for Christmas Eve is getting together in the evening, having breakfast for dinner (who wants to slave over a huge Thanksgiving type meal when you can have breakfast) - our family LOVES breakfast foods! Then we do the skit with the kids for Jesus and then open presents from Oma, Opa, and the cousins.

This year my family was kind enough to do our party one day earlier so it was a Christmas Eve Eve party because I had to work on the 23rd and 24th, but I could get a trade for the 23rd and no luck on that for the 24th.

Flash's new found home, under the christmas tree, presents will not be going under their until the last moment!

So......I totally forgot last year I threw our tree away because a lot of the lights were out on the tree. I didn't remember this until I went to get the tree out this year and it was not there! I am sure I had intentions of buying one when they go on sale the day after, but I guess that didn't happen.

I didn't want to spend a lot on one this year, knowing that I can get one after christmas for cheap. My parents had an extra one so we borrowed it for this year.... I now remember why I had a pre-lit tree!

Here is Kycee's potty chart of stickers that she would get each time....she insisted that she put them on the chart herself and would not take any help at all, so you can see they just ended up any place. I was attempting to put them on each day, multiple times for a week, that didn't work, but this shows just how her personality is! Koya's sticker chart was all covered, stickers in line on the days. It makes me laugh to see hers and then think back to what Koya's looked like.

We had tried potty training Kycee 1 or 2 other times since the first one, with no success during the morning hours and that quickly turned back to diapers. I finally had a couple days off in a row and decided that we just needed to do it, while I am home. The first day went pretty good, she had 2 minor accidents and the second day had 1, since then she has not had a wet accident. We are going on 4 days now and as of today she went poop in the toilet 2 times, it was awesome!! She is doing great. We have her sleeping in a pullup right now for nap and bedtime, after a week or 2 we will change that to panties and see how she does!

Swimming

Koya has been doing great at swim team and loves going. I have been trying to focus her on working on her kick, she seems to bend her knee a little too much which drags her legs down. When she thinks about it, she kicks great! She has also been working on breast stroke and the butterfly kick.

Kycee has always been somewhat of a little fish, but this last time swimming this past week she finally started really moving! Before she would move a little and maybe kick a little but not really "kick", all of a sudden the past 2 times she is kicking A LOT and moving pretty good in the direction she wants to go. She will also get turned over to her back, but because she wont just relax and float, she tries to kick, bending her legs too much and can't keep her belly up great. She has enough time to get a breath and back over to her belly, she is so much fun to watch. She LOVES diving for toys at the bottom and any chance she can get she wants to practice "diving" in the pool like sister.

Koya swam in the first meet for this fall. She did GREAT in the backstroke, not so well in the freestyle. For some odd reason she has decided to stop kicking on the freestyle, I think because she is thinking about her arms going "so fast" that she forgets to kick. She got a slower time this time on the freestyle then she had this summer, but dropped around 13 seconds on the backstroke.

Love these guys!

About a month ago Kycee finally broke through her back, bottom molars, just waiting for the top ones now. We have attempted to potty train again, but she really has no desire or care to do it and I am not going to argue with her, we will wait and try again. She is getting better at going on the potty, but when she needs to pee she will not tell you or try to get to the bathroom, she waits until after she is done and then lets you know.

She is doing much better at night going to bed and only gets up about 1 time, but quickly goes back to bed. She was sick the past week and that didn't help, so hopefully when she is feeling better that will get better.

Koya is doing great at swimming and it makes her so tired at night, which is a good thing, she is ready and asked to go to bed around 7 on those nights. We have a swim meet coming up that she is going to swim in this next week and I can't wait!

Koya was the Star of the Week in her class, which she loved. They get to lead the class in activities, they take a poster the first day and then we got to join her class on friday for some fun!

Nothing is more entertaining for Kindergartners then fire gear and dogs right? It worked great.

Koya started on the OTAC swim team this fall and she loves it and so do I :)

She also gets to workout with Savannah, Brooklyn, and Alyssa, they are all on the white team and Marissa is the coach! They workout every Mon, Wed, and Friday for an hour.

Koya was always a pretty great sleeper, although she started early on being "scared" of the dark, didn't want her door closed and so on. We would have times on and off when she wouldn't want to go to sleep "good", would cry and it was a little of a hassle, she has been great for sometime now.....

Kycee on the other hand was an AWESOME sleeper, I can only think of 1 time about 8 months ago when she didn't go to sleep "good", she always lays down great, never got out of her bed, when we moved her to the toddler bed and then would wake up playing in her room in the morning until we opened the door...well that ALL changed this past week! Over night she became apparently scared of something, I went to lay her down for bed and she screamed, "DON"T TURN OUT THE LIGHT MOM", so I then when and turned on her night light that has been in her room but we haven't used. Then when I walked out she cried "DON'T SHUT THE DOOR", again she has never complained of this. We took a moment talking with her and tried to figure out what was wrong, but she insisted on the light and the door open. After 2 nights of this I figured I might as well move Koya's bed upstairs and let them share a room (Koya has wanted to move back upstairs, but I haven't done it because Koya has to have the door open to sleep and at the time we were closing Koya's).

We move the bed and closets around and get the room ready and that night, poor Kycee is so upset because she wants her "little bed" the toddler bed, she didn't want a big bed and she didn't want to sleep with sister. Well the night was long, she wouldn't let us shut the door, and was up multiple times coming into our room and crying for us not to go out ( so I would stand by the door, which made her happy until she fell asleep). Koya took a moment to go to sleep each night with the crying of Kycee, but once she is out, she is out for the count and not bothered the rest of the night. Well this has continued on now for 4 nights, her waking up at night has gotten better, when she comes into the room we walk her right back and lay her down and she doesn't make a peep and goes back to sleep, so I know slowly she will be back sleeping great all night. She is still taking FOREVER to go to sleep with crying, getting up, etc....it was a hard night to night which ended in me feeling upset that maybe I just need to sit by them and the bed, which I did and was great, they were out in a flash. I don't want to build bad habits and get them used to Aaron or I being next to bed to fall asleep, but over a short time I think we will be able to get further away and soon standing by the door and then out the door, we just have to take our time and do what helps them better also.

We have had some cute pictures....Aaron went in the other night and found both girls asleep on the top bunk, I don't care who sleeps where or how, but I hope together they figure it out soon.

Halloween was great and the girls had a lot of fun. We started off the week before going with Jessi and the kids to their wards halloween party, then followed our wards party and then halloween night.

Kindra didn't want to be in the picture and smile initially but I had found her tickle spot during lunch and told her I was going to tickle her and then she started cracking up!

Koya and I took a quick trip with Tara and her family down to St. George to visit Grandpa, we want to make sure we get some good time with him and for the girls, along with the weather being fantastic. Because of both of our busy schedules we did in on a Saturday for the day and thanks to Danny for driving. The kids were GREAT both ways and kept themselves entertained.

We arrived in time and Tara had planned to take them to lunch, which we went to Golden Corral, which I do love those rolls! And Grandma and Grandpa love buffets. After lunch we went back to the house and took a bunch of pictures, then Grandpa took a nap along with Kindra and Danny, the other kids played outside the entire time and loved it and Tara worked on their history book that she is putting together and had Grandma fill her in on some pictures and dates. I entertained myself with looking through some old photos of our stylish fam!

It was great to see Grandpa and Grandma and spend some time with them, he seems to be doing great with the cancer and I hope it continues for as long as it can and that he can. It is crazy to sit there and listen to my Grandpa and hear stories from my Grandma, because my dad is EXACTLY like him in so many ways, it makes me laugh to hear the stories of him doing math problems, or figuring out a problem because the computer probably was not correct, they are all things my dad would do :)

Having a great time tonight watching Kycee try to understand what telling a secret is. She first came up whispering in my ear, nothing. She then came up saying "secret, secret, secret" and then laughed and laughed! Then after a little more practice with sister came in saying "diaper, diaper, diaper" all in a quiet voice and laughed and laughed!

Koya made this alphabet book at school, it was SO cute. She loves to write letters, she is starting to sound out and spell words and she LOVES doing it!

Here are some random pictures that I have been taking through out the end of summer with my phone.

Attempted to curl Koya's hair over night with a headband ( I heard about the idea), it actually worked really good for the front and side hair, but the back hair didn't wrap around tight enough.

Koya's poor hair reminds me of mine when I was younger from all the chlorine damage! I really need to start putting conditioner in her hair before she gets in the pool. Her hair isn't really "green" just really bad ends, but I had read that tomato sauce will take the green out, so I thought I would try and see if it would help at all with the "damage".....It was fun to do and she thought it was crazy, but I don't know if it worked at all!

This is what boating ALL day will do to a little one......
We made it home a little later then usual from the lake, I put her down to nap and after 2.5 hours of sleeping I went to wake her up because of it being later in the evening. I open the door, which usually she always jumps right up if that happens.....well as you can see she didn't even budge.

Swimming update

Kycee has figured out how to get onto her back swimming, it is awesome! She has been doing it for a couple weeks now. She will go from her stomach to back and then back to her stomach!

Koya will hopefully be starting on the OTAC precomp swimteam on Sept 6th, as long as there is an opening, which I should hear about this week. She is also going to be starting Kindergarten the end of this month at Orchard Elementary.

Do Over!

I officially declare today a "do over" - it has been one of those days. I attempted to potty train Kycee with no success, she won't relax enough to go pee when sitting on the toilet, but when she stands then she has no problem. I did get her to pee one time in the potty and she was so excited to get a sticker. She would then sit on the potty FOREVER holding it, we will try again in a month.

I then asked Koya to go take a short nap so she could then go play with friends (and she had been so whiny all morning), when she insisted on coming upstairs over and over. She continued to not listen which then led to her having a melt down in her room, screaming and screaming and then thinking I don't love her. After I went to the gym and came home she was sitting down stairs and had finally calmed down, I then informed her that she was "grounded" from playing with friends, TV, or playing outside. She is sitting at the front door as I type outside, saying how boring it is to be inside by herself.

I just wish somedays you could do over.....and I sure hope Koya makes better choices tomorrow so we can all have a funner day!

SWIMMEET and KOYA!!

I woke up this morning and rushed home from work, taking part of the day off, got Koya and rushed down to Payson for her to swim in the swim meet for practice. I have been waiting for a meet that we could go to, because I was so excited to watch her, I knew she was going to do great.

When I was getting her ready, I told her, "remember big smooth arms, fast, little kick and turn to the side to breath quick and if you need to you can roll onto your back to rest and get a good breath if you need too", she looks at me and said "but I can do freestyle the entire way, right because I don't want to turn over". I then told her that would be even better!

There were no girls for the 6 & Under group and just one boy from the Payson team, so it worked out perfect for her to swim with him.

She stood so patiently waiting, although a little nervous when I left her, but Oma was coming right back to help her out!

She did so AWESOME, I still can't stop thinking about it. Her stroke looked better then it ever has and she didn't take her first breath until well past the flags. Tara was recording her swimming and she looks at me and said "Is she going to take a breath", I said "I hope so"!

She did nice little, quick turns for a breath and did freestyle the entire way! (even won the boy)

She was so excited to get a ribbon, in fact I think that is probably the only reason she swam.....
I saw that there was only the one boy doing the back stroke, so I quickly ran down with her and had her swim it also. Maddison was there help her until Oma got back.

We haven't practiced backstroke for a long period and I was telling her that she can not turn over to her stomach, she has to stay on her back. She made it more then half way and rolled over to see where she was, I think they feel like the wall is never going to get there and the fear of hitting their head on the other wall. She quickly rolled back over and finished the backstroke also.....

I am so proud of her, swimming was and is such a HUGE part of my life, I am greatful that my children are learning and loving it as much as I did and sure do love watching them and can't wait until the next meet......and maybe next year Kycee could make it across the pool at the age of 3??? We will see!

We love the camp out each year at Aunt Tara's house, although this year we had to leave late at night because I had to work early in the morning. Kycee love's Uncle Heath and his craziness!

We have been trying to grow Kycee's "bangs" out, which is the hair from when she was little that was just really slow growing. With the back of her hair getting longer and the top being slightly shorter it started to look more and more straggly at the end, not really a mullet, but could be close! I decided to have Whitney cut about 1 to 2 inches off, which would bring the back up to be even with the top layer that was behind and make her bangs in front look better (which will hopefully grow out sometime).

I can't believe how high the water is at Utah lake - This is the area that cars can usually drive out onto and the picture above is the other side (south side of the parking lot) where we used to launch the boat - those bathrooms are now in water.

Finally the weather has warmed up and we have made it out on the lake! It was such great weather and water the past 2 days. We had some others from work join us also - Hood and Spivey and his family.

5 year olds don't whine......

The day before Koya had her birthday, she could barley contain herself, she was SO excited to be a 5 year old. I started asking her why she was so excited to be 5 and what was going to be different, what can 5 year olds do that 4 year olds can't do. My favorite line by far was her say "well 5 year olds don't whine", I said what, they don't, so after tomorrow you can't whine or cry any more?? ......ya, that didn't last very long, but it was a great thought.

We had her party on her actual birthday this year and planned a little Strawberry Shortcake theme and swimming at Payson pool. I figured she didn't need all the presents that we got her at the party, so that morning I started handing her a present to unwrap every other hour or so. She was so excited and loved the idea. Kycee on the other hand did not like that sister was opening presents, 2 is such a hard age when they don't quiet understand.

She also got a new swimsuit - like she needed one, but I just can't pass up these cute little speedo suits.

At the beginning of summer I got a call from dispatch over the radio while at work to call them. When I called they informed me that an officer was at my house because someone drove into our fence. The damage was only done to one section and the gate was broke, which we were able to fix and then Aaron and I fixed the broken section on our own with the insurance money.

We took a drive down to Payson this morning to work out with Oma, aunt Tara, and uncle Jarom. Jarom was kind enough to work with Koya and keep her on track swimming with the beginners swimteam, infact most of the time in her lane she was leading out! She did so great, kicking up and down the lanes, freestyle, backstroke and more. About 45 minutes into swimming she says "mom, my arms are tired".

Lyida was a great help also, swimming with Koya and playing with Kycee. Practicing her kick and breathing with the kickboard.

Kycee was so funny, she had to do whatever the other kids were doing and we went up and down the lanes over and over. She also loved doing the "superman" float and would put her arms up in the streamline on her own.

When I was picking up Koya from class today her teacher wanted to let me know how GOOD she is in class, she listens and does what is asked and she is just amazed by it. Koya has always been such a great listener, especially when others are teaching her. I know sometimes she doesn't listen to me at home and I do get frustrated because I KNOW that she can and does, but I am so great full that she is good with others.

This is Kycee and her "sad face" - it is so cute, when I get her ready for bed at night I make her give me a hug and kiss and then she wants to run off and play for a bit. One night she took off and looked back at me and I was doing a "sad face" and she ran back and gave me a kiss. She then again stopped and turned, so I did it again and got another kiss! Since then it has become our little game for more and more kisses!

If I could get her to hold still for half a second we could have some really cute pictures, but these will do! I used to put Koya in skirts and dresses all the time, she always stayed clean, infact I could usually use her clothes 2 times before washing them...... Kycee on the other hand, we change her 2 times a day most days. Skirts just don't seem to be her, well maybe it is the skirts and playing in dirt that seems a little strange to me, but she pulled off this little outfit awesome!

Kycee would play outside all day if we let her, rain or shine. I love that she will keep herself occupied and entertained. I had to get the pictures of her playing on the trampoline, bouncing her baby. Just for a note....Koya still seems to want your (my) attention 24/7 - she will do something for a short time, or be busy, and then she has to know what is going on, asking a question, showing you something, or wanting something.

Well today is the day to transition Kycee over to a bed, as much as I LOVE the crib and wish I didn't have to do this yet, it is time. I want to be able to potty train her sometime early/mid summer, so I need to get her in a bed now.
Nap time went ok, after church - she attempted to get out of bed a couple times, I just layed her right back down and then she stayed there and fell asleep. The real challenge will be getting her to sleep in like she does right now!

WOW! this means she is going to Kindergarten next year, which she is SO excited about! Koya has loved school and has had such a great experience, I have really enjoyed the school districts preschool.

They had a program with their graduation- I was not able to go because of work, but Aaron got some great video of their songs. Millie is her best friend from school this year, sitting next to her.

Kycee has now been speaking in short sentences for a few months, as in 2 to 3 words and she is great at repeating you. She is now up to 4 to 5 word sentences, the other day I was putting lotion on her legs and she had a bruise on her shin that had been there for a few days, while putting lotion on she says "don't touch my owie, hurts". She has also started singing, sometimes it is made up sounds and words, other times you can tell she is attempting to sing, "twinkle-twinkle" and "ABC's".

I have been looking around to get Koya onto a swimteam-beginner this summer with out any luck. They pretty much only have lessons here in Orem and then the swim team, which 1 she is too young for and 2 she has to be able to do 50yards, which she couldn't do yet. OTAC has a Pre-competition level with USS that I think she would be able to do, but she has to pass the level 4 on lessons. Growing up swimming and teaching it, I haven't wanted to put my kids in lessons because most the beginning stuff I can and have taught her, and I know that in lessons they do spend a lot of time on the wall, while each kids takes a turn, so I was hoping to pay one payment and get more swimming out of it with the swimteam. Since that hasn't worked out I decided to put her in the level 4 and make sure she can do that and then see about getting her on the OTAC team for 3 times a week. I took her to the first day and the other kids in her class are atleast 7-9 year olds and they are in the 4' depth, where she can't touch. Remember she has always thrown a fit about swimming where she can't touch and asked me all day that day if she would be swimming in the deep water. I put her in and the teacher has them swim out to her just past the flags and then back. Well the other kids can touch and just stop and turn around, well little Koya has to bob up and down, which she has gotten great at and can almost tread water now for a moment. I let the teacher know that she can't touch out there and hope she won't be any trouble to hold now and then if they are talking and she can't touch. The teacher says she will do fine in the class and at that point I take Kycee upstairs at the rec center to watch through the window.
While watching the class, she is doing so GOOD, she makes me so proud. The teacher gets the class out of the water and they start walking around to the deep end, I carefully watch waiting for her to start throwing a fit and crying that she doesn't want to let go of the wall or swim in the deep water. She smiles at me and waves up in the window and then gets into water and the teacher is having them learn to tread water. She was so cute watching her, she just let go of the wall and tried to keep her head up, which usually ended up just doing bobs up and down to get a breath. Then the teacher took them to the diving board (which I have not been able to get her to go off, and she cries and cries when I try asking her too). She watches the other kids go off and then she gets up there walks to the end and jumps in!! I was so happy and then the teacher had them swim to the far wall across the entire deep end! I am so glad that the lessons right now was the right timing and that she is getting more comfortable, realizing that she can keep her self up and swim great!

We started out Saturday morning with the annual Genola easter egg hunt, which once again was FREEZING cold! The last warm easter we had was back when Koya was 10 months old and we were wearing shorts and sandals in the pictures, awww how would that be!

The girls are growing so big, sometimes they get a long GREAT and other times they are at each others throat the entire morning, crying, taking toys, fighting, and more.

If the weather would decide to warm up and stay then they would play outside ALL day, well Kycee would, Koya at times want to come and hang out inside, but Kycee we have to drag in when it is bed time or time to eat.

Kycee is very independant and wants to do everything on her own, from eating, jumping, climbing on play grounds. It is amazing watching her climb up ladders on play grounds and go down slides that Koya didn't want to have anything to do with until the end of last year. Oh and she can now also climb onto the kitchen counter and also she just started opening doors recently. She loves to drink milk and drinks multiple cups a day. She has to eat on her own, she will not let you feed her anything and she uses a fork and spoon great, again something that we have worked on for so long with Koya, it is nice to see that she is able to grasp the fork and get it to her mouth, which she has been doing for a really long time, but it still amazes me to watch. She will go up and down stairs standing up, holding the wall or railing, although still chooses to slide on her stomach for quicker response! She still takes one great nap in the afternoon and we also cut her off from the sound machine at night which worked awesome. We still use it during nap so that the dogs or Koya won't wake her up.

Koya loves school and will ask everyday all morning long, when is school, is it time for school yet. She loves to color and draw. She is started touching and holding some bugs - which is a big improvement, she wouldn't touch a thing last year (besides a snake). She had to find bugs to take to school last week, so we went on the search. She held a worm, and found other bugs and carried the bucket around looking at them all the time, she HATES bees and is scared of them.

Kycee heard a fire truck and was pointing, yelling "MOM FIRE TRUCK, MOM FIRE TRUCK" - I never do get sick of hearing the siren or her yelling that! :)

St. George

We had such a great time in St George with Oma and Opa - while Opa was at the Pharmacy convention. We went swimming everyday and the girls did SOO good, I couldn't keep Kycee's head out of the water it seemed like. She wanted to keep jumping in off the side, blowing bubbles, and watching sister under water. She also wore her goggles for the first time! As you can see I didn't get a whole lot of pictures.

Kycee's new thing is to lay down with a book, can't complain about that. She will sometimes look at them before going to sleep, but then she will also look and them and play with them in the morning.

Kycee has always liked green beans, usually I had bought them in the can but the other day with Grandma Kay out her she said I should try the frozen ones. Took both the girs to the doctor yesterday, Koya had her Kindergarten check up and Kycee had her 2 year check up. Of course with those they both got some shots, Kycee only needed 1 but Koya got 4!! Koya is always way more anxious and scared before the shots, cries for just a second and then when they are done she is over it and then is more excited about telling people that she had to get shots.

Kycee loves to talk, she is starting to say 2 to 3 word sentences, she started a few weeks ago, going down the stairs standing up, holding the wall. She is very outgoing, loves to climb, jump, throw, and slide. She would spend ALL day outside if the weather could stay warm so we could let her. She has to do everything on her own and doesn't want help. She LOVES books and LOVES to color also!

Grandma Kay has been out here for a little visit, I wish it was initially planned for "just a visit", but she is out here to help with the girls. Aaron has not been feeling good lately, he has been having a lot of anxiety and I have been so BUSY with work and it has just been leading to more stress. She was so kind to be able to come out and stay to help with the girls while I work and help get Aaron back on schedule and feeling better.

Kycee will soon have a full rack of teeth! A few weeks ago her canine teeth started breaking through and soon followed the other 2, so now all 4 are just about half way in.

She also has started this little attitude problem with "freaking out" when she wants to or when I leave her and she cries/screams this horrifying pitch! I hope it will end sometime.

Since lowering her crib down the last little bit she has no longer been able to climb out, I am so relieved with this, I was not ready to train her to get used to a toddler bed yet.

I am actually suprised this didn't happen sooner, although I don't love that it is...... Kycee has started climbing out of her crib. The other day Aaron called and informed that she had climbed out of the crib and fallen, I was hoping that she wouldn't try it again because she did fall. The next morning, after waking and before getting her out of her crib I open her door and said just a minute I need to go "potty" and then I will get you. I come out of the bathroom and there she is standing in the hallway looking at me smiling!! oh no, now what! Aaron today said that she wouldn't lay down for her nap and he put her back in multiple times. I don't think she is ready for a toddler bed, she still needs naps and is too stubborn. HHMMMM.....Crib tent?? I might.

Koya Skiing

We took the kids up to Sundace a little bit ago to let Koya try skiing. She did ok for the first time, I have since gotten her some boots and skis for around 15.00 total, can't complain about that. She only lasted about 3 very short times on the tow rope and then she was saying "I just want to sit down, my legs are tired" Those boots are heavy!

While Koya took a little break we put Kycee in the boots for a little ride and she loved it!

My mom started teaching swim lessons at a house in Woodland Hills, so I put Koya in a class with Kida and Scout. Koya has been doing so GOOD, Oma is very impressed. She is doing so great at her freestyle arms with getting them high out of the water and then rolling to her back for a bit and then back over.

Sayings: The other day while taking Koya to Woodland Hills to swim with Oma, as we were driving up there and the elevation changed the pressure, she could feel it in her ears. This is some of the things she said: Mom, my voice sounds funny and my ears. Mom how did the fog get in my ears and how do I get it out.

Koya has been sleeping better lately and doesn't seem to be getting up as often because of "bad dreams" or being "scared". Aaron takes her potty after she goes to sleep and before we go to sleep and that has helped with the bed wetting. I think she just started sleeping a lot deeper this past summer which started that. We have tried the less to drink at night, pee before bed, and the only thing that garantees she won't pee is if we go take her around midnight or before. Hopefully this will end, but I don't know.

Kycee had a stretch of about 2 weeks that she was SCREAMING to go to sleep, the second you go to put her PJ's on she is upset. We started by letting her fall to sleep with the door cracked open, which she liked, but then she started taking longer to fall asleep and she wasn't getting into a deep sleep forever. We tried different things and then finally started turning on the nightlight that we had in her room and shutting her door again, which has seemed to work. She will fuss for only a few seconds before she is out.

Just before the holidays we had a parent teacher conference with Koya and her student teacher. The class that Koya is in, her main teacher is a teacher at UVU and she brings in her student teachers for their last semester to teach with her. There is around 3 to 4 student teachers that take 2 days a week and another group for the other 2 days. Koya has loved having more teachers and I love the fact that the kids have so much help and interaction with a teacher.

When we sat down to talk with Koya's student teacher they went through a CD that they had made with pictures through the year so far and also a progress report of how she is doing, I was really impressed that they did this. I know that some of this may be done because they are in their last year of schooling and some of it was possibly for them as a student teacher, but I still love the fact that I got pictures and information on how she has been doing.

Koya loves to write and will spend a lot of time writing words if you tell her how to spell them, she has also started spelling 3 letter words on her own by sounding them out: Mom, dad, ball, cat, hat, etc....

These are some pictures that Jessi took one day while we were out driving and I didn't want to forget about them for this year......Oh and a couple things about the girls for the end of the year: Koya has still not been having good nights, some nights she will sleep all night, but majority of the time she is up once or twice to our room saying she is scared, or something. Aaron goes down every night and gets her up to go "potty" which has been working great. She is excited to go back to school after having a break for the holidays. She also does NOT like having her hair brushed because it hurts and I don't know if I had mentioned that before on here to remember later on....

Kycee recently this past week started having sleep issues also, she had done so well for so long, I think it has been over a year. I think it is a mix between her molars still coming in causing her pain and some seperation anxiety. When we go and lay her down she just starts screaming and crying and calling for us, when before we wouldn't get a peep. We have now figured that if we leave her door cracked open she will talk to herself for a bit and then goes to sleep. I am hoping it will pass and we will be able to just close her door initially.

After getting home from Oma and Opa's house on Christmas Eve the girls opened their PJ's, which Koya was pretty excited and thought it was funny that she had feet/zip up PJ's like sister.

Koya slept in Kycee's room, but in the middle of the night Kycee woke up fussing and had hard time going back to sleep, so I went in and brought Koya into our bedroom to lay on the side of the bed in her sleeping bag so that Kycee wouldn't wake her up. I had to work today, but I did have someone holding over for me until 9:00, which was a life savor! I set my alarm for 7 and woke up to see if Santa had made it to our house and sure enough he did! I walked back into our bedroom and whispered to Koya "Santa stopped by last night"! She starts kicking and swinging her arms so fast trying to get out of her sleeping bag and yelling "Presents"! It was so great, I wish I would have had the camera in there! I picked her up and she looked like she was maybe going to cry, so I asked "are you ok" and she said in a high excited voice "YES, I am just so excited and Tired"....me too! She attempted to run down the hallway but I had to stop her and wake sister up. Kycee didn't know what was going on and looked at me like "why in the world are you waking me up right now"!

They ran down the hall, Koya was so excited ran right to the toys, but Kycee stood in the hallway looking out for a minute and took some encouragement to go over there, but after that it was on!

Pillow pets, babies, stroller, scooter, puzzles, toys, movies, ear rings, lip gloss, and much more, but the most coveted item...........

well Kycee did love her Singa ma jig, but still not the most favorite......

And there it is the zuzu pet! Both the girls loved them! Koya kept asking as she started opening presents, how come she didn't get the zuzu pet and I kept reminding her that we haven't even opened any presents!

We also got a WII for the family, but the zuzu pet won it over also!

Finally a huge snow storm! We woke up yesterday to about 8 or so inches of snow, Oma and Opa in Payson have about 2 ft of it!

Girls and Temple lights

These girls crap me up now days, they love playing "house" together......Koya will make bed for Kycee to lay in and now Kycee will go up to Koya if she is crying sometimes for her to pick her up. She can't lift her very far off the ground, but it is cute.

Koya set up this little bed on the couch the other night for them to watch a show, of course it didn't last very long, but cute anyways right?

Koya is still getting up 2 to 3 times a night, with some of those times saying that she is having a bad dream or scared and the other is to go "potty". We are thinking about letting her sleep in with Kycee to see if that will help, some nights she doesn't even want to go to bed in her bed, but for the most part she still does a great job. I hope this "bad dream" and imaginary time starts fading away so she can sleep better.

We went up to Temple Sqaure with Jessi and her family to see the lights. I had been FOREVER since I have made it up there, it was so beautiful!

Santa at the Station

I love that Santa comes to the fire station for the kids to see! They have such a great time and it is amazing that Santa knows all the kids!

Koya is to smart for her own good, I have had to tell her that all the Santa's that she sees around are the the "real" Santa's helpers, because there are sooo many kids that have to see him and when you tell him what you want he goes back and tells the real Santa and then they all work together to get ready for Christmas. The reason I have to tell her this is because anytime we have seen a santa, she says "mom, that is just someone dressed up, that isn't the real santa", so that is why I have had to come up with the helpers, which she has taken and loves the idea.

Anxiously waiting for Santa! The 2 santa's that we have seen before today, Koya was too shy and nervous to tell him what she wanted for Christmas, so we worked on it before hand and I gave her some ideas of what she has wanted and she could ask for, so she wouldn't be nervous, which was a suzu pet.

Kycee didn't want to go up to him right away, but she didn't want to sit in the back with me either, she wanted to be right up in front. She sat with Ben and his girls most the time and then played with Seth, his wife and their kids also.

This is the look I got when she opened her present and realized that it wasn't a suzu pet....I then had to explain to her that when she asks for something it is for Christmas, not today and that he has to go back and tell Santa what she wants.....however she has liked her present, which is a remote control fire truck.

Kycee wasn't sure about sitting on his lap, but did stay put and didn't cry, although she was very concentrated on the present at hand.

Kycee got a shake and go car.....and she wanted to play with the other kids toys!

What do you guys do with your flowers, do you dry them??

I first dried and saved my flowers from my wedding, the ones I held and then over the year I would add one or two to the vase. I had heard there is this spray that you can spary on them and it "eats" away the dust, but I never remembered to look for it, and you can't dust them or they fall apart. Over the years I would attempt to clean them, but never really worked well, along with some of them falling off anyways or getting nocked off. If you want to keep flowers, you have to get them put in a little glass encloser, I do have some of those, which have stayed beautiful.

Anyways I took this picture to remember, because it is time to put the poor flowers to rest.....

Baby doll & Computer

Kycee recently has started playing with the kitchen down in Koya's room, it is so cute to watch the both of them play, she will bring you food and if you ask for a drink she even pretends to fill the cup with the sink water. Great imagination already! Obviously she needed to get the cup that was on top of the kitchen.

Koya loves to play games on the computer and it is such a great way to work onher motor control, either using the mouse or the pad. Right now she usually has to use two hands to move the mouse to the correct spot and click the button. If she does it usuing one hand she usually ends up having a "wobble" and the mouse ends up way on the other side of the screen and she gets frustrated, but she is getting so good at doing it with two hands and by herself.

So....Koya started out really early liking baby dolls, infact it was around when she turned 1, but kycee wanted NOTHING to do with them, infact when Koya or any of us would hand her one, she would just throw it on the ground and was happy playing with the ball, or car. The other night she wasn't feeling good and ended up having an ear infection, plus a cough and congestion which she got from me, but when we went to get her ready for bed she saw the baby doll and wanted it, but not only did she hold, she wouldn't put it down, and wanted the baby laying right next to her when she went to bed. She has been on and off with it now, but when she see's the baby she does like to carry her around and play.

I have been so busy lately, finally finished my blog to book from 2009, after I had to start over when our laptop got stolen with the work I had already done on it. Work is going good, I have made progress at the hospital and am able to chart and work a lot quicker, which helps make the job A LOT better because you don't feel like you are charting the entire shift. I took the captain's test at work which is also the Lt test and it puts you on the list for captain for the next 2 years. There are 3 Lt positions open and only 3 of us tested, so there wasn't a lot of question who was going to get the positions, so starting in Jan 9th, 2011 Grady, Garcia and I will be the Lt's.

Koya Love's school and she doesn't miss a day asking us if it is a school day, I do love the fact that she enjoys school so much. She is still the little princess she has been, she notices any little scratch and will remember it forever and it is always hurting. She loves to play with Kycee and will play house, school, etc... Flash sleeps with her in her bed EVERY night and she loves it. Koya has still been getting up at night the past couple months, a couple times a week, either from a "bad" dream, the heater kicking on and she hears it, or accidents in the bed. I hope this is just a phase, although it has been a long one, I hope it ends soon. She still loves to color, write, asks me how to spell words and she will pretend to read books by talking about what the picture is showing.

Kycee is our little crazy one, determined to do everything on her own, and daring. She has to feed her self and if you trying putting something in her mouth she will throw a fit, walk away and not want it. If you tell her not to do something she will make sure to stand or be right as close to what you told her not to do as she can and just about do it.....like playing in the dog's water bowl. She loves to do whatever Koya is doing. She loves the dogs or any dog and is not one bit scared of them, infact sometimes I feel bad for Flash because of Kycee playing rough with him. She has started to say SO many words, she will almost repeat any word you ask of her, but she doesn't always just say the words when she needs something. She started putting words together, the most common one is "more bite", Look this". She climbes onto the counter, she eats standing up in a regular chair not her booster chair and she still loves drinking milk. She is a great sleeper and goes to bed without any questions. We recently have switched her to 1 nap a day which is getting better, some days it is only 1.5hrs long to 3 hrs long and hopefully that will be the consistant one. She also loves going to nursery at church which only took about 3 times to get her going without any problems. She is such a mommy's girl I LOVE it, Koya was always a daddy's girl, until now she loves being with me too. Kycee will come to me anytime, but the sad part is that she does cry whenever I leave to work if she is awake, which is hard to see. Koya never did really cry, just waved goodbye and was happy being home with dad, Kycee loves her dad, but sure does love being with me. She will snuggle with me for a moment in the mornings when I am home and LOVES coming to the fire station to see me, which she will already say "truck" now we have to work on the "fire" part. She is very social and loves saying hi, giving high five, or being around people, where Koya is still shy most the time when meeting new people.

Aaron is keeping busy trying to keep the girls entertained with the weather getting colder and not being able to play outside. He has also been trying to slowly fix and work on what he can in the basement that we started back at the beginning of the summer, we have made progress but I wish we could just finish already. Aaron is awesome at fixing electronics and he still works on friends computers for them, but when it comes to dry wall and mudding corners and all the angles, he and I don't do that very great. I hope we can get it done soon, I would love to sell this house and get another one.

Koya loved them and couldn't wait for me to finish the pile so she could jump in them....

Kycee was not sure at first and in fact she was a little mad when I sat her in the pile.

Then they began to throw leaves!

Halloween

Where is the time going?? I can't believe Halloween is here and over! I had to work on the "trick or treat" day of Halloween and it RAINED a lot. Earlier in the week the ward had a kids Halloween party with games and treats.

(Koya also dressed up on Friday for a Halloween party at school, which Aaron and I also went to, it was a lot of fun, the kids had learned some songs to sing, then we decorated cookies. We also sprayed Koya's hair red, which she thought was the coolest thing ever!)
Kycee LOVED the games, didn't care which one it was, Koya on the other hand was a little shy and didn't want to participate in all of them. Here she is throwing a bean bag into a castle.

Kycee had fun in this room, they just had tissue paper all over the room that the kids were picking up and throwing.....

We got a call from Jack and Kay 2 days ago and they informed us that Kara had to come home immediately, on the soonest flight we could find. Aaron had to break the news to Kara, because I was at work. The next morning when I came home she was doing better then I had expected, although she had moments through out the next 2 days when she would break down and cry and it would just break my heart.

We had such a great time with her out here and I hope that she was able to learn and grow as an individual. She is such a great child, with goals and determination to do what she wants. She has the drive to do well in school and in her studies and is also a great swimmer! We miss you Kara and can't wait for you to come back!
